Artist Bio
HI☆STEADY is the brainchild of guitarist Isaku Suzuki, who envisioned a tropical band that would break down genre barriers and get audiences moving to a global tapestry of musical influences. This trio features Suzuki alongside two of the most respected names in the Japanese reggae scene: Masamichi "MAH" Aoyagi on bass and Eiji Yoshikawa on drums. Their sound is a rich and eclectic blend of Latin rhythms, reggae beats, African grooves, and bluesy undertones, all woven together by Suzuki's vintage and uniquely styled (sometimes even bizarre) guitar, resulting in a truly distinctive tropical sound.
Their long-awaited debut album, "BIZARRE TRIPS IN THE GARAGE," was released in October 2021 and features the talents of Eri Konishi (Green Massive / Copa Salvo) on piano and accordion.
In March 2022, they released a 7-inch single featuring a tropical-infused cover of RC Succession's beloved song "Ame Agari no Yozora ni" ("雨あがりの夜空に"), with vocals by Mizuki Kamata and percussion by Daisuke Iwahara.
May 2024 brought the release of a double A-side 7-inch single, "SON SON" (a vibrant mix of African and Japanese roots rhythms with percussionist IZPON) and "Departure" (a heartfelt ballad for a friend's farewell, featuring trumpeter Mitsukaze).
